Sited opposite the dog-show ring, we had the great pleasure of playing and watching as a wonderful selection of Arran’s doggies put their best paws forward – big congrats to all the winners. Sadly our new band gazebo didn’t last the course when a strong gust of wind did its worst!

It was good to see the Tractor Show back up and running at the Heritage Museum. We played as the judges were debating the prizes and stopped briefly for the prize giving. There were some fine looking machines which provided great fun for kids of all ages!

Music & Malt, Lagg Distillery

25th June 2022

Due to the windy conditions, we played in the foyer of the distillery which proved to be the perfect setting with wonderful accoustics.

We were joined by Paul on trombone, over on holiday. Thanks Paul, your contribution was much appreciated!

A very popular festival, with people queueing out the main doors. Perhaps something to do with the offer of free ‘wee drams’!!

We started off with a rousing version of the ‘Colonel Bogey’ march followed by:

  • Olympic Theme
  • Arran Melody
  • Delilah (of Tom Jones fame)
  • A medley of tunes from the musical ‘Oliver!’ including ‘Consider Yourself’, ‘As Long As He Needs Me’ and ‘Food Glorious Food’
  • The Rose
  • African Funk

It was a real pleasure to be able to play for so many people and hopefully entertain them whilst they queued for tickets.

Arran Heritage Museum

16th April 2022

After the trials and tribulations of the last two years – including having to cancel our Christmas carol concert at the last moment due to Covid, we were thrilled to be back playing again!

We fitted snugly into the Museum’s new Garden Room, which was a blessing as we didn’t have to worry about our music blowing away in the chilly wind!

We played a couple of Easter hymns (Horsley and Hursley) as well as:

  • Arran Melody
  • The Rose
  • Delilah (of Tom Jones fame)
  • Amarillo (Neil Sedaka’s version)
  • Dear Lord and Father of Mankind
  • All Through the Night – featuring lovely solos by our Euphonium player Brian
  • The Olympic Theme
  • When I Fall In Love (made famous by Nat King Cole)
  • A Groovy Kind of Love (travelling back to the 60’s for a few moments)
  • African Funk

We thoroughly enjoyed being out and about again and a big thank you to Eric (one of our Euphonium players) for conducting and playing at the same time!
